Brother Bill’s Helping Hand achieves a 70% attendance rate at community programs with CareMessage Outreach

Problem

Brother Bill’s Helping Hand is an organization that offers a variety of community-based programs to their neighbors in North Texas. Prior to CareMessage, they faced limitations in their ability to reach out to all neighbors about their programs.

Solution

The Brother Bill’s team has widely adopted CareMessage to engage with over 16,000 neighbors and over half a million messages exchanged to communicate updates on their programs, support behavioral health initiatives and promote their events.

Success

Looking at their programs overall and the CareMessage outreach tied to them, they have seen an increase in the average attendance rate to approximately 70%. This includes a range of services such as their grocery store program, parenting classes, benefits assistance, and various workshops.

NC MedAssist increases medication collection rates by over 20 percentage points.

Problem

NC MedAssist faced growing challenges with reliable, timely communication across its medication assistance and mobile over-the-counter (OTC) programs. An estimated 40–50% of online orders went uncollected. Legacy communication methods (snail mail and email) were slow, inconsistent, and often ineffective. Emails were frequently missed or sent to spam, and mail could not support time-sensitive needs. As programs evolved, especially with online ordering and mobile events, NC MedAssist encountered high no-show rates for medication and OTC product pickups, resulting in:

  • Wasted staff time and resources
  • Prepared medications and supplies not being collected
  • Reduced operational efficiency

Solution

NC MedAssist implemented CareMessage as a text-based communication platform to improve outreach, reminders, and operational coordination. Over time, use cases expanded beyond planned campaigns to include one-off alerts, such as drug recalls and urgent notifications. Text messaging became the primary communication channel for:

  • Event reminders
  • Medication and OTC pickup notifications
  • Multi-touch follow-ups (before, during, and near event close)

Success

After CareMessage: uncollected orders dropped to under 15–20%, often closer to 80–100 missed pickups out of 500+ orders. Staff time spent preparing orders was no longer wasted, campaign scheduling and follow-ups became predictable and repeatable, and low opt-out rates reinforced patient acceptance and trust.

Overall, CareMessage helped NC MedAssist move from inconsistent, resource-heavy communication to a reliable, scalable, and patient-preferred outreach model, directly improving pickup rates, event turnout, and operational confidence—while maintaining simplicity for staff and accessibility for patients.
